FIREARMS

     Only three band firearms should be used in 1st Battalion CMF. Although it may not be historically accurate at times, it is necessary due to safety concerns, insurance provisions, and event rules. Two band weapons will not be permitted on the field. Each soldier should have a proper bayonet and scabbard as well. Side arms are only to be carried by officers, and staff NCOs in certain historical situations. Larger side knives should be avoided, as they would have been ditched early in the war. Small side knives are OK. Above are the typical weapons in use during the period, and are approved for use by the 1st Battalion CMF. From top to bottom;

A. U.S. Model 1842 Musket, smoothbore or rifled.

B. U.S. Model 1855 Rifle Musket.
C. U.S. Model 1861 "Springfield" Rifle Musket.
D. 1862 C.S. Richmond Rifle Musket.
E. British Pattern 1853 Enfield Rifle Musket.
F. Springfield bayonet and scabbard.
G. Enfield bayonet and scabbard.
