HEADGEAR

Correct headgear for 1st Battalion CMF should be a slouch style of hat, or correctly made kepi with lining and sweatband. Slouch hats should be made of good material, and consist of a sweatband and lining on the inside, and ribbon on both the base of the crown and the edge of the brim. Colors should be kept to black or dark to medium browns and gray. Straw hats are OK, but only during the warmer months of the year. Pay particular attention to this style of hat, as it is relatively easy to obtain incorrect styles. Dirty Billy and Clearwater Hats are two of the best sources for headgear. It has been said that a hat can say a lot about the man who is wearing it. Hat blanks are not acceptable. Above are a few examples of correct styles.

A. Medium brown Beehive with lining

B. Gray jean cloth Kepi
C. Black slouch with lining
D. Straw hat with lining and sweatband
