SHIRTS

Shirts will be made of cotton, woolen, or linen material and they can be a plain color or woven with a check or striped pattern. They should be of correct military or civilian pattern for the period. Print type fabrics should not be used.  Shirts may also be lined. Correct buttons are made of bone, wood, mother of pearl, metal, porcelain or other similar period material. All topstitching should be hand done, but is not critical. Both banded and fold down collars are acceptable.  There are several good shirt makers, but many shirts available to Reenactors are incorrect. Some examples of the various patterns and styles are shown above.
